Geology Field Trip-Frank Rowell-2 sessions, Friday Full Day

The Llano Uplift is a rockhound's wonderland. This roadside geological tour reveals many of the unique features of the Texas Hill Country. This all-day trip is a don't miss opportunity if you love rocks.  See a gigantic stromatolithic bioherm (what?), Cambrian mudcracks and other very unique structures on your guided tour.  And oh, yes, Enchanted Rock.


Frank Rowell never outgrew his fascination with rocks. As the owner and operator of the Enchanted Rocks & Jewelry shop in Llano, he is the quintessential guide to the Llano Uplift.

Dichroic Fused Glass Jewelry-Sheri Zoch

Dichroic glass is metal-coated glass that has two separate colors, depending on the angle of light. Participants will make up to 6 pendants, learn to cut and grind glass and how to arrange a pattern on the glass.  The pieces will be fired overnight and bales and/or earring hoops will be glued onto the pieces.  Participants will go home with beautiful completed pieces.

Sheri Zoch has been working with fused glass for 25 years and currently owns the Glass Menagerie in Llano. She makes fused glass jewelry as well as larger fused glass pieces.

Hip to Be Square-Kim Roberti

Students will paint on a 6"x6" canvas to create an acrylic masterpiece.

Kim Roberti paints petite masterpieces. She has painted over three thousand paintings in the last 10 years as a Dailypainters and ebay seller. She has gathered thousands of followers and collectors worldwide.  Llano benefits from Kim's excellent instruction as she teaches classes at the Art Guild.

Zen Pattern Drawing-Lisa Miller

Zen Pattern Drawing is a pleasurable, meditative act of creativity. ANYONE, even so-called non-artists, can draw with a little time, simple materials and frequent practice. For the experienced artist, Zen Pattern Drawing can unlock creativity at the beginning of any artistic session, or kick-start you out of a slump.

Lisa Miller is a self-taught artist of several abstract, ethnic and fusion styles of art. Beginning with Australian Aboriginal style techniques including dot painting, she quickly cycled through henna design, recurring ancient and modern patterns and techniques.

Balancing Rock Sculptures-Marcus Hammons


This is a beginner's class. Each student will be provided a pile of rocks. They will select rocks for color, texture and size and construct a creatively balanced sculpture using only gravity.

Marcus Hammons graduated from Lousiana Tech with a BS in Horticulture. He currently has a landscaping business in Llano and is very active in the Llano Earth Art Fest.

GOURDS! From Seed To Art-Rickie D. Newell

An introduction to one of our most ancient of crafts and arts. How and where to grow GOURDS, their uses and possibilities as human expressions. Several project possibilities will be offered to be completed in class.

Rickie discovered gourds as a medium for her art when her husband decided he needed Purple Martin houses. When she saw pictures of the beautiful artistic possibilities for those gourds, she was charmed forever. A member of the Texas Gourd Society and the American Gourd Society, she will guide you through carving, cleaning, and painting one of 3 gourd projects to take home with you.

Spring Collage-Valerie Smasal

Students will choose flowers they would like to create using paper. Each creation will be unique to the artist. We will emphasize individuality and creativity.


Valerie Smasal, owner of Calamity & Grace Art Supplies in Llano, has been a collage artist since the age of 13. Originally a theater major, she became a full-time collage artist 12 years later. She teaches collage as well as most other forms of visual art at her store and gallery.

The Art of High Tea-Virginia Rose Walker

We will prepare the perfect tea sandwiches and savories, mouth watering scones, and delectable sweets to serve at our English afternoon tea. Learn how to set the appropriate tea table and protocol when taking tea. No English tea party is complete without beautiful hats which will be provided or bring your own.


Virginia Rose Walker is a tea aficionado who has been hosting tea parties for the last 10 years for children as well as adults. Her teas are punctuated with all the etiquette and accoutrements you would expect in a London tea room. Virginia currently hosts teas in her historic bed and breakfast in Llano.

The Figure in Oils-Carla Sanchez

Learn about proportion, gesture and skin tones from the classical point of view in Florence, Italy using a live model.  


Carla's greatest inspiration besides Velasquez and David Leffel has been her late grandfather, who was a well-known local artist in The Hamptons. Carla's style tends toward Classical realism. In 2018 Carla studied Classical Painting Techniques for the figure in Florence Italy at the Angel Academy of Art and taught classical painting techniques in the UK in 2019.  She has studied Chiaroscuro art from masters and now teaches classes in the Texas Hill Country.

Fabric Collage-Cathy Bellars

The technique consists of cutting pieces from a variety of fabrics and applying them via special glue paper to a pattern. Then you will embellish and finish your unique collage as you wish.  You can choose from a dog or cat fabric collage design,

Cathy Bellars is a longtime oil and watercolor artist who also quilts and knits. There is a great deal of creative expression in fabric collage and what a great way to use up all those scraps!

Acrylic Pour-Becky Widner

This class will teach several different techniques of acrylic pour, none of which uses any brushes. You will learn cup pour, dip pour and Dutch pour, on canvas and ceramic tile. Acrylic pour is always exciting, even using the same colors and technique will result in a different outcome every time.

Writing Renaissance, the Art of Lettering and Calligraphy-Trish Rex

Join the revival of handwriting, writing letters, and sending cards in this class. Participants will design and create their own monograms, stationery, and notecards. A variety of lettering styles and materials will be available PLUS a notebook of creative lettering styles and flourishes.

Patricia Rex is a retired teacher who started her gallery career at age 57; 'Collage in the Garage'.  She painted and collaged backgrounds for 21 works of art featuring the lettering and calligraphy of inspirational quotes and scriptures. Her work can be seen at JJ's on Main in Marble Falls, Texas, Stuffology , and Llano Art Gallery in Llano, Texas.

Leather Tooling-Barbara Berkesch


This class will teach the basics of how to carve and tool a design in leather. You will learn to prepare the leather, to use a swivel knife and various tools to create a 3 dimensional oak leaf design.  Instruction will also include dyeing and finishing techniques.  The final step will be sewing the sides together to create a leather tray.  


Barbara Berkesch became fascinated with leather over 20 years ago.  She began by taking classes at the local leather store and then becoming involved with various leather organizations. Her art has been inspired by her love and appreciation of the natural world.

Fabulous Fascinators-Robin Chiesa


In this class, you will learn how to build a fascinator hat to be worn at parties, dances, balls and everyday wear.  Wear this hat at the Llano Creative Getaway workshop, "The Art of High Tea", offered after this class and receive a prize!

For Robin Chiesa, hats have been a family tradition, in fact her Great Great Grandmother was a milliner in Central Texas. Her hats are now displayed in the Hall of Fame at the Churchill Kentucky Downs Museum representing the Kentucky Derby.  

Painted Wine Glasses-Cheryl Quallenberg

Cheryl will guide you through the steps to create your own set of hand painted wine glasses. Designs may include: initials, flowers, simple shapes or whatever your imagination desires. You are encouraged to bring your own ideas and printed designs (scaled to fit a wine glass.) You will personalize 2-4 glasses for yourself or to give as gifts.  No experience necessary. All materials provided.

The Odd Couple-Llano Community Theater

Friday Evening, January 28-Llano Community Theater's production of Neil Simon's classic comedy THE ODD COUPLE at the Lantex Theater, 113 W Main St, Llano, TX.

THE ODD COUPLE, arguably the late Neil Simon's finest and funniest play, centers around two very different roommates... The uptight, neurotic neat freak, Felix Unger, and his slovenly friend, Oscar Madison.

Brush & Brunch, Whimsical Butterfly-Ronda Ivy

Sunday morning, March 1, Create a masterpiece at Llano's premier restaurant, Badu 1891. Rhonda Ivy will lead you through a finished painting while you sip on mimosas and enjoy a brunch buffet created by the restaurant's master chef. Participants will paint a 16x20" close-up representation of a butterfly in brilliant colors.

Ronda Ivy is a working artist and private art teacher. She has taught 3-year-olds through adults and sells her work on Instagram, Facebook, and commission.
